Our skin ages as faster than we do. Sun accelerates aging, our diet and genetics do too. Nature just seems to be against us when we deal with skin aging. But we are blessed with science and technology.
There are many methods of skin rejuvenation. We can do it either by ourselves or by the assistance of skin experts. In this writing, we will discuss some of each.
Applying facial masks
Applying facial masks on our face is known to improve the skin flexibility, reduce and prevent wrinkles, and tighten the enlarged pores. If you have the budget, then buying branded facial masks will be no problem for you.
A Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Treatment Mask costs you 18 dollars, and it contains Clary Sage extract and other skin tightening substances. Hydration prevents premature wrinkles and lines.
La Mer, The Hydrating Facial Mask, is probably the most expensive mask to buy. It is priced at 250$, but it has the essential component ingredients and formula of both cream and serum.
But if you do not want to spend extra money for mask treatment, home-made masks can be your solution. Here are two recipes:
- Oatmeal mask
Oatmeal can lift pore-clogging fat and dirt from the face. And to make it, first, you need to mix one spoon of oats with four spoons of coconut milk. Apply the mixture on your face evenly. Apply from your forehead to your neck, and wait until the mask dries up a little, and then rinse.
- Honey mask
A honey mask is as simple as it sounds. You only need raw honey and a teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Mix both ingredients and apply to your face. Leave it for at least twenty minutes, and then clean with water.
Retinoid and peptide creams
Both retinoid and peptide are two different chemical substances, but they come in the same form, cream. Retinoid is proven the most effective cream to fight wrinkles and skin lines. It sheds the damaged skin and enhances the growth of the new one beneath. Retinoid also prevents collagen breakdown, which maintains the skin elasticity.
Peptide, on the other hand, promotes collagen reproduction. It tricks the skin to produce more new collagen because the chemical structure in peptide mimics the one of skin collagen.
Peptide cream costs cheaper than the retinoid, but many dermatologists and beauticians endorse the use of the latter. Pick yourself a product that is easily accessible and affordable.
Microdermabrasion vs. laser resurfacing
As the word contains ‘abrasion’, it should have given you a picture how this skin procedure works. Microdermabrasion is simply peeling of the outer layer of the facial skin with a microdermabrasion tool. It tells the facial skin cells to reproduce and rejuvenate itself. They promise porcelain smooth face with their treatment. It is a place worth visit, indeed.
However, the downside of microdermabrasion is that the effect might only last for a week, and you have to repeat the procedure if you want to have a smooth face again. Laser treatment, on the other hand, lasts for 2 to 5 years.
Laser treatment costs 3,000 USD for one visit. It might be expensive, but if you think you are in need of it, why not doing it? Life is only once, do not live your life with a skin condition that you do not desire.
